More about FaceBook

(quote) Facebook maintains that the changes make pages livelier and better organized while giving people more control over software applications they opt to install.

"We understand that some people are unhappy or concerned about the recent changes to Facebook," a customer support representative at the website wrote in a posted message.

"We think, however, that once you become familiar with the new layout and features, you will find these changes just as useful as past improvements."

Facebook engineer Mark Slee earlier told AFP that the website's team is confident they can win over their users.

"We don't look at this through the lens of messing with something that works," Slee said. "We are focusing on innovating and making the product better."(unquote)

Facebook Security: Fighting the Good Fight

Facebook Security: Fighting the Good Fight ( http://www.new.facebook.com/security?ref=nf

As a Facebook user you can help us protect you by doing the following things:

* Report any spam message or posting you see. The more reports we get, the easier it is for us to respond decisively.

* Never share your Facebook password with anyone. Never. No Facebook employee will ever ask for it, and no one else should know it. If you are ever prompted to log in to Facebook, make sure it's from a legitimate Facebook web address. If something looks or feels off, go directly to www.facebook.com to log in.

* If your Windows PC or Mac is ever infected with malware or a virus, check out these helpful sites: http://www.microsoft.com/security/default.mspx or http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222

* Finally, just as in your off line community, be aware of your surroundings in your online community. If a user doesn't seem right, or says or posts something that you feel is threatening or inappropriate, report it to us.
Here is some comments:
some of my friends have been sending me the same googlevideo. but none of my friends have actually done it. i think it is a virus and it also sent the same one to my friends but i didnt actually send it either.

Another
;please fix the problem. i have been blocked from posting because of this crappy "love crush" spam. this is upsetting as i didn't send anything out but now am blocked. PLUS, i can't find where the heck to contact any one person by email or anything to talk about this. this isn't right and something needs to be done.

KURT CHAPMAN Hacker?
One of my friends just posted this to my wall...is this really possible?

From Marion :
Do not accept a friend request from a KURT CHAPMAN he is a hacker. Tell everyone on your list because if somebody on your list adds him u get him on your list too and he'll figure out ur computer's ID and address, so copy and paste this message to everyone even if u don't care for them cause if he hacks their email he hacks your mail too!

Why I think this is rubbish
by Laird Ewan Mutch at 3:27pm on July 3rd, 2008
Here I am sitting going through my requests, and come across someone that would like to think of me as an amazing friend. For whatever reason I do not know, however I thought OK we shall have a look and see what this is all about.

the second I saw the heading " Choose your 20 MOST AMAZING friends!" I immediately looked at my list of friends and thought, why should I choose 20, regardless whether you can add "20" more the next day or not. All my friends are amazing, that's why I have them on my Friends List! do I need an application to tell them so? easy answer is NO.

Whether you like the fact or not, you are basically putting people on the spot to choose 20 friends, that for 24 hrs are shown to be more amazing than any of the others until the day comes along, you decide other friends are amazing.

Easy solution, don't bother installing such a waste of time application that can't allow you to add as many as you like at the outset.Like it or not, the fact is, someone will take humbrage as to why they were not picked on day one. so why not just downsize your friends list to 20.

Problem solved, and you don't need a ridiculous application to tell them. Tell them through an inbox message or mass message, on their walls (and all at the same time!)

i have to give this application a ridiculous star rating before I can post so it will be the absolute minimum I can, but given the choice it would have to be minus 5 stars. and uninstalling it. it is completely pointless.

  • they are now just as powerful as business computers, with enough memory and processing power to make them perfect staging areas for Internet attacks
  • a growing number are connected to the Internet though high-speed lines that remain open all the time. Computers left on around-the-clock are vulnerable
